New Frontiers of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics

This book is comprised of research presented at the 5 th Workshop on Biostatistics and Bioinformatics held at Atlanta on May 5-7, 2017. Featuring 22 selected papers from the workshop, this book showcases current and new advances in the field, presenting new methods, theories, and case applications in the frontiers of biostatistics, bioinformatics, and interdisciplinary areas. Biostatistics and Bioinformatics have been playing a key and important role in statistics and other scientific research fields in recent years. The goal of the Workshop on Biostatistics and Bioinformatics is to stimulate research, foster interaction among researchers in field, offer great opportunities for learning and promoting further research collaborations. The invited talks and poster presentations covered rich topics closely related to biostatistics and bioinformatics in the data sciences, reflecting recent advances and big challenges in the frontier of biostatistics and bioinformatics. The topics covered are timely and have high potential to impact statistical methodologies in data sciences, identify important directions for future research, and facilitate future collaborations across disciplines and between theory and practice.
