Questions and concerns about burnout and jobsatisfaction among social workers has been expressedfor decades. Evidence suggests that to varyingdegrees, burnout and job dissatisfaction can haveserious, broad-reaching negative impactson a social worker's ability to effectively "do thejob." However, past research in this area typicallydid not compare burnout and job satisfactiondifferences between rural and urban social workers.As such, much less is known about these concernsamong the rural sub-group. Using qualitative andquantitative research methods and analysis, thisinvestigation assessed burnout and job satisfactionin both groups. Correlates are compared betweengroups, and profiles of each group are discussed.
