I am a force from the past. My love lies only in tradition. I come from the ruins, the churches, from altar-pieces, the forgotten Apennine villages, the foothills of the Alps, where my brothers lived. I wander along the via Tusculana like a madman and along the Appian Way like a stray dog, or gaze into the twilight, or the dawn breaking over Rome, a privileged spectator from the periphery of some buried age. Monstrous is he who is born from the womb of a dead woman. And I, an adult fetus, go my way, more modern than any modern, in search of brothers that are no more.
